Dragon Knight in shades of Green

Man can lend himself to all the sallies of imagination; he consents to follow its adventurous bark through the narrowest and most perilous straights; but when once it has broken the tie that bound it to reality, he either ceases to follow it at all, or follows it without sympathy, with impatience, or anxiety. ~Alexandre Vinet (1797–1847)

2019 Cards for Little Hearts Card Drive

That life is to my liking which is made up of little deeds, little sacrifices, little kindnesses. ~Birthday letter quoted in J.R. Macduff, Birthdays, 1893

Hello and Welcome to the 2019 Cards for Little Hearts "Heart-Themed" Card Drive.

Cards for Little Hearts is a global card drive, comprised of crafters dedicated to bringing smiles, hope and encouragement to as many children with congenital heart disease as possible by providing heart center staff with handmade cards that are given to patients during their hospitalization.

The current card drive will run from January 1st - February 1st for Heart-Themed (non-Valentine’s Day) "Thinking of You" cards to celebrate the patients during February's Heart Month. Cards will be hand delivered to heart patients at both Nationwide Children's Hospital (in Columbus, Ohio) and the Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital, (the Congenital Heart Collaborative in Cleveland, Ohio).

Anyone is welcome to help make and send cards – from a young child who loves to doodle to an experienced, acclaimed card maker.

Please read the guideline page located on the Cards for Little Hearts' website for important information prior to making and sending in your cards. You can also find additional helpful resources on the FAQs page and a Sentiments List. There is also a Gallery page if you need some inspiration. If you have any questions about the guidelines or the card drive itself, please contact Christina (HERE) directly, founder of Cards for Little Hearts.

There is only about a week left to get your cards mailed in!
Here is are just some of the cards I sent in.

DS4J PFC: New Year Streamers

Hope and faith flower from the cheerful seeds of the old year to the sprouting garden of the new year's dawn. ~Terri Guillemets, "Annuals," 2004

Good morning!
Sadly news has come about that DigiStamps4Joy will be closing up shop at the end of the month. Margy Kieser is such an amazing and generous lady and it saddens me that she has found herself in this position … too many people think that it’s okay to share images with friends and on Pinterest.
This effects the artists who create all these lovely images and DigiStamps4Joy appears to another one brought down by the inconsideration of others.

This is her last Progressive freebie challenge and we were given the image “New Year streamers”. I had fun creating this card using metallic papers and inks.

Supplies
Image printed on Stampin Up! Whisper White card stock
Artiste gel pens in gold & silver
Card stock for base from The Paper Studio
Cra-z-art glitter pends
Fun Stampers Journey Sparkle Silk and Silver card candy
Gold and silver metallic card stock from my stash
Sketch: Sunday sketch & Stamp

You can still play along until the end of the month … so if interested check out the facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/groups/636935063114458/

Since her shop is closing, she is offering a 50% discount on all images. Please visit her shop! Lots of wonderful images to be found!

All that is worth cherishing begins in the heart. ~Suzanne Chapin

Good morning!
Today is January 15 and we are starting a new monthly challenge at The Outlawz Challenges called “Crash your Stash”.

The purpose of this Challenge is to encourage you to use those items that are no longer trending and probably stashed away in a drawer. Forgotten and alone. So, we are here to help inspire you to dig those lovely items out and bring them new life!

That simple!
And to make it better, We Are 3 Digital Shop is generously sponsoring us so every month, someone will win a lovely prize!

Day 5 & final, Growing in Unity 2019

Courtesies of a small and trivial character are the ones which strike deepest in the grateful and appreciating heart. ~Henry Clay

Good Morning!
Awww... Sadness :O( …
Today is my fifth and final day to share with you a card I made using a Unity Stamp. I hope you have enjoyed your visits and I appreciate all the wonderful comments that have been left over the last several days!

As you can all see, I am a big fan of using sketch layouts for my cards! They are such great prompts for those days when I struggle with a layout for an image I am using. I’m not really a scrapbooker (so to speak), but many years ago when I was questioning a friend who was using an actual scrapbook layout for a card, she simple said “Cards are just little scrapbook pages. Only instead of a photograph, you are using a stamped image”.

It just made so much sense and I started looking at them differently… Now I use them all the time.
This card is no exception. A layout for a square card was used here, but I did not follow exactly. You can see I modified a bit for a 5 x 7 card but you can still make out the layout. I do that all the time. Just have to make some adjustments for the card base size you are using.

Not sure what the deal is with my picture, hoping you can see it clearly on your end.

  • Image “Scarf in Winter” from Unity Stamp Company
  • Black Hybrid Ink from Scrapbook.com
  • Card stock from The Paper Studio (base) and Stampin Up!
  • Design paper “Kiss” from Paper Pizazz

  • Promarkers
  • Rhinestones from Recollections
  • Studio G Glitter Glue

Day 4, Growing in Unity 2019

The most important thing is to live a fabulous life. As long as it's fabulous I don't care how long it is. - Freddie Mercury

Good Morning!
Today is day four of me sharing with you a card I made using a Unity Stamp. A good friend of mine has this stamp and when I saw it I just knew I also had to have it!

This card is going to be a birthday card for someone special and once again my card follows a sketch. I did not have any twine or ribbon I liked to go with the colors used on the card so opted to use a bit more of the glitter paper to create the "ribbon" effect.

Supplies for 5 x 7 card
  • Image “Fabulous Flamingo” from Unity Stamp Company
  • Black Hybrid Ink from Scrapbook.com
  • Card stock from The Paper Studio (base) and Stampin Up!
  • Design paper “Tropical Vacation” from Recollections
  • Embossing folder “Subtle” from Stampin Up!
  • Glitter paper from Recollections
  • Promarkers
  • Rhinestones from Recollections

Day 3, Growing in Unity 2019

Clouds come floating into my life, no longer to carry rain or usher storm, but to add color to my sunset sky. ~Rabindranath Tagore

Good Morning!
Today is my day three for sharing with you a card I made using a Unity Stamp. This card was made for a young family friend who is celebrating a birthday this month

The image is a recent purchase and I bought it because I kept seeing the clouds in different and fun colors! So it was great to actually play with it and see those thoughts come to life!

First I stamped the image on watercolor paper then heat embossed in black. Once set, I misted the paper and starting adding the twinkling H2O paints. When the paints and paper were dry, I added glitter glue to give a lot of additional sparkle to the card! Perfect for a young lady!

I love how bright and sparkly it turned out

Supplies for 5 x 7 card
  • Image “Clouded by Cuteness  from Unity Stamp Company
  • Black Hybrid Ink from Scrapbook.com
  • Canson watercolor paper (140lb cold press)
  • Card stock from The Paper Studio (Base) and Stampin Up!
  • Design papers from ColorBok “Watercolor Rainbow” and ProvoCraft "Speckled Frog"
  • Sentiment from Unity Stamps “Halo Dirty”
  • Stampin Up! Black Embossing Powder
  • Studio G Glitter Glue
  • Twinkling H2O watercolor paints

Day 2, Growing in Unity 2019

Life was meant to be lived, and curiosity must be kept alive. One must never, for whatever reason, turn his back on life. ~Eleanor Roosevelt

Good Morning!
Today is my day two for sharing with you a card I made using a Unity Stamp. This card was made for a family friend who celebrated turning 90 years young! Since he has such a great sense of humor, I thought Brian Guy would be a great image for his card.

I did a bit of paper piecing for the shirt and pants by stamping the image on some bits of design paper I had in my scrap box. Then I trimmed them up and attached to another image stamped on white card stock.

Supplies for 5 x 7 card

  • Image “Brian Guy from Unity Stamp Company
  • Card stock from Stampin Up and American Crafts!
  • Design Paper from my Scrap box
  • Fresh Sage Silk from Fun Stampers Journey
  • India Ink from memories
  • Medallion from my stash
  • ProMarkers
