Outlawz CAS Challenge: Butterflies!

Happiness is a butterfly, which when pursued, is always just beyond your grasp, but which, if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you.
 ~Nathaniel Hawthorne

Good morning!
Today is the start of another Clean and Simple Challenge at The Outlawz Challenge.

This week, Charlene is challenging us to create a CAS card or project with Butterflies. She says Summer is in full swing and while she loves see all the flowers, she wants to see some Butterflies. It can be the main image or just a part of it, or could be your background. Just remember to keep it Clean and Simple!

Click HERE to come on over and play along with us.

Here is my card.  Just trying to use up some paper scraps again.
This was another perfect layout for that.

Based on sketch #7 from Atlanta Heart ChallengesI used a butterfly from a set by The Angel Company called "Butterfly Swirls". I just love how the antennae creates a heart shape.

Size A2

Additional Supplies
Card stock, DP and Sentiment from "Birthday Banter" are from Stampin Up!

Fatherings ...

It's not only children who grow. Parents do too. As much as we watch to see what our children do with their lives, they are watching us to see what we do with ours.
I can't tell my children to reach for the sun. All I can do is reach for it, myself.

Joyce Maynard

I made this card for my husband for Father's Day.

I used this adorable Digi: Mustached kitty from Tam Hess @ Cardmaking Artist and an old sketch from Whiff Of Joy.The nice thing about sketches is that they are not only a great way to encourage yourself to try a new design or push your personal comfort zone but also use up those bits and pieces left over from other projects.

Feeling Fruity

“When I hear somebody sigh that Life is hard,
I am always tempted to ask, Compared to what?”

Sydney J. Harris

Good morning!
Summer is here with a vengeance! It's has been so hot recently that it is sometimes hard to think of doing anything but trying to stay cool! But this is price we pay for our winters so I don't complain ... much! LOL

Today, over at the Outlawz Challenges, is the start of a new CAS challenge.
We've been asked to make card or projects that show fruits or veggies! It can be your focal point or just part of the scene you create! Just keep in Clean and Simple!

My Card for the challenge
I stamped the image on a piece of watercolor paper, colored with watercolor pencils then spritzed with water. The background layer is a scrap of background paper I had left from another card project.

Size A2
Supplies
Card stock, Watercolor paper, piercing template, ink and image (Fruit Stand) from Stampin Up!

Through The Craft Room Door Challenge - Anything Goes

There are four questions of value in life…
What is sacred?
Of what is the spirit made?
What is worth living for, and what is worth dying for?
The answer to each is the same.
Only love.”
~ Johnny Depp

It's all about the Die Cuts!

Faith is what makes life bearable, with all its tragedies and ambiguities and sudden, startling joys.
Madeleine L’Engle

Good Morning to everyone!
I certainly hope you had a wonderful weekend!

Summer is officially here in Arizona with temperatures reaching the triple digits. Monday is supposed to be 107 degrees Fahrenheit (I think that translates to about 41 Celsius for some) ... Plenty hot that is for sure!

These are the days I am glad my husband and I decided to have a pool put in! Nice way to stay cool and still be outside.

Although I have to admit, I have been inside most of this weekend making cards for my Father-in-laws!

This week, the CAS challenge for The Outlawz is all about the die cuts. It seems like almost everyone uses some sort of die cut or punch on their cards. Our challenge this week is to create a clean and simple card or project that features a die cut or punched image if you don't have a die cut machine. Just gotta keep it CAS!

Here is my A2 card.

Die cuts are such an awesome way to use up those bits and pieces of card stock or design papers. And this was a perfect opportunity to use them. The piece that I embossed and the little butterfly is attached to the card with pop dots.

I also added a bit of glitter to the butterfly. Here's a closeup

Supplies:
Card stock from Stampin Up!
DP from Making Memories (Simply Fabulous!)
Die from Sizzix (Wish)
Butterfly stamp & die from Sizzix (Butterfly #3)
EF from Cuttlebug (Swiss dots)
Ink from Memories (India Ink)
Pop dots

The true harvest of my daily life is somewhat as intangible and

It is a little star dust caught, a segment of the rainbow which I have clutched.

Laughter is the Best Medicine!

A good, real, unrestrained, hearty laugh is a sort of glorified internal massage, performed rapidly and automatically. It manipulates and revitalizes corners and unexplored crannies of the system that are unresponsive to most other exercise methods.

Author unknown, from an editorial in New-York Tribune, quoted in Quotations for Special Occasions by Maud van Buren
