Doggo in the window ...

...he is so very happy to be alive that he feels he simply must wag his joyful little tail... so that all people may know of his complete contentment... ~W. Dayton Wegefarth (1885–1973), "The True Story of 'Bum,'" 1915

Good morning!

New Outlawz Sunday Song & Rhyme Challenge located HERE has started. This challenge is sponosored by Beccy's Place and will run for 2 weeks, ending on November 12th.

Our song this fortnight is:

(How Much Is) That Doggie in the Window?
Song by Patti Page

How much is that doggie in the window?
The one with the waggly tail
How much is that doggie in the window?
I do hope that doggies for sale
I must take a trip to California
And leave my poor sweetheart alone
If he has a dog, he won't be lonesome
And the doggie will have a good home

How much is that doggie in the window?
The one with the waggly tail
How much is that doggie in the window?
I do hope that doggies for sale
I read in the papers there are robbers
With flashlights that shine in the dark
My love needs a doggie to protect him
And scare them away with one bark
I don't want a bunny or a kitty
I don't want a parrot that talks
I don't want a bowl of little fishies
He can't take a goldfish for a walk

How much is that doggie in the window?
The one with the waggly tail

How much is that doggie in the window?
I do hope that doggies for sale

So Thankful!

One can never thank people, I thought regretfully, at least not by piling gratitude on top of them like heavy American Beauty roses. One can never pay in gratitude; one can only pay "in kind" somewhere else in life. ~Anne Morrow Lindbergh, "Our Early Mornings," Listen! the Wind, 1938

O Christmas Tree ...

Once again the pine-tree sung:—
'Speak not thy speech my boughs among;
Put off thy years, wash in the breeze;
My hours are peaceful centuries...'
~Ralph Waldo Emerson, "Woodnotes, II"

Good morning!
Today we have new Sunday Song & Rhyme Challenge to play along with! You can find the challenge HERE

Our poem this fortnight was picked by Theresa Pace
O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree

How lovely are thy branches
O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree
How lovely are thy branches
Your boughs, so green in Summer-time
Stay bravely green in Winter-time
O Tannenbaum, O Christmas tree
How lovely are thy branches
Let us all remember in our gift giving and our merriment
With our family and friends and loved ones
The real and true meaning of Christmas
The birth of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ
O Tannenbaum, O Tannenbaum
How lovely are, are thy branches
O Tannenbaum, O Tannenbaum
How lovely are, how lovely are thy branches
Their pillars all please faithfully
Our trust in God unchangedly
O Tannenbaum, O Tannenbaum
How lo-lovely are thy branches

On Comet
On Cupid
On Donder and Blitzen

Our sponsor this fortnight is Fred she said and I am using a pre colored image called Pine Trees

The Outlawz Crash your Stash Challenge: Twine/Floss

Bring forth the raisins and the nuts—
To-night All-Hallow’s Spectre struts
Along the moonlit way...
~John Kendrick Bangs, "Hallowe’en," Echoes of Cheer, 1912

Good morning!
We have a new Outlawz Crash your Stash Challenge going on! You can find us HERE! The challenges will run through November 14th so come play along.

Our sponsor this month is Sheepski Designs
The challenge for this month is to use Twine/Floss (no ribbon).

For my card I used Andrea’s adorable image Trick or Treat - no 228

I was a bit surprised to realized that I didn’t have a cobweb stencil so I had to improvise. I used a die from Sizzix which I cut from a stiff super heavyweight cardstock I have and used that to create the web effect on the card. Worked pretty well!

Supplies: 5 x 7 card
  • Sponsor image printed on Hammermill Color Copy
  • Bakers twine from American Crafts
  • Cardstock from The Paper Studio (base), American Craft and Stampin Up!
  • Clear pop of color from Scrapbook.com
  • Corner punch from Stampin Up!
  • Dies from Sizzix (Cobweb) (to create a stencil) and Whimsy Stamps (Bats & Bubbles)
  • Ink from Stampin up!
  • ProMarkers

Thankful ...

These were the archives of the history of his own heart. ~Max Nordau (1849–1923), "The Art of Growing Old," How Women Love and Other Tales (Soul Analysis), translated from the German by an unnamed translator, 1896 [drawers of photos, letters, and other memories —tεᖇᖇ¡·g]

Good morning!
Recently I attended a one day crop event put on by a friend of mine that sells Close to My Heart products. It a nice break to spend a day seeing friends and crafting with like-minded people.

Denise always does these fun make and takes. Sometimes I post them. Sometimes I don’t. But this time she had us make a super cute 8 x 8 scrapbook page so I thought I would share.

I'm thinking I'll be trying this layout again later!

Now I don’t do much scrapbooking but I have found that I like to do the 8 x 8 size, then I mount on a 12 x 12 sheet of cardstock to fit my books. I feel accomplished without being overwhelmed with how to fill up a 12 x 12 sheet.

Supplies (8 x 8 page)
  • All items are from Close to My Heart

Something wicked ...

October is the month
When the smallest breeze
Gives us a shower
Of autumn leaves.
Bonfires and pumpkins,
Leaves sailing down —
October is red
And golden and brown...
~Author unknown

Good morning!

We have a new Challenge at The Outlawz Greeting Challenge located HERE. This round is sponsored Anne’s Digital Stamps and will run through October 23rd!

Hey Little One ...

When babies look beyond you and giggle, maybe they're seeing angels. ~Eileen Elias Freeman, The Angels' Little Instruction Book, 1994

Good morning!
Today I am sharing an accidental boy baby card!
I rarely make cards for Littles but recently I found myself having to make 4 cards, 3 girls and one boy… the issue is I messed up when making a card for an incoming baby girl because I was thinking about the baby boy that I needed to make a card for!

Ah well … it’s not really a bad thing as I have the card for just in case!

Supplies (5 x 7 card)
  • Pre-colored image from Cuddle Buddy (Baby Animals) printed on Hammermill color copy
  • Card candy for flower centers from my stash
  • Card stock from The Paper Studio (Base) and scrap bin
  • Die from Close to My Heart (Looped Circle)
  • Flower dies (Unknown)
  • Ink from Stampin Up! and Versafine Claire
  • Sentiment from Unity Stamps (Here at last)
  • Stencil from Scrapbook.com (Mod Asterisk)

Grateful Blue Jay ...

Just then the branches lightly stirred…
See, out o' the apple boughs a bird
Bursts music-mad into the blue abyss...
~Edwin Markham, "At Dawn"

Hi everyone!
A new Outlawz Color Challenge located HERE has started. This challenge will run for 2 weeks, ending on October 17th and is sponsored by Fred she Said.

Our challenge this fortnight is to pick two colors + yellow. I choose blue and white.
The twist is to add flowers or lace.
My "lace" is the strip of ribbon that looks like rhinestones. I trimmed it down to just one row rather than the two it has.

Supplies (5 x 7 card)
  • Digital pre-colored image (Blue Jays) printed on Hammermill color copy
  • Cardstock from The Paper Studio (Base) and American Crafts
  • Rhinestone strip from my stash
  • Sentiment from Unity Stamps

Autumn Tag

The bright summer had passed away, and gorgeous autumn was flinging its rainbow-tints of beauty on hill and dale. ~Cornelia L. Tuthill, "Virginia Dare: Or, the Colony of Roanoke," 1840

Good morning!
I am just a little bit late getting my project for the current Sunday Song & Rhyme Challenge posted! You can find the challenge HERE

Our poem this fortnight was picked by Lorie Hill

October
by John Updike from A Child's Calendar

The month is Amber,
Gold and Brown.
Blue ghosts of smoke
Float through the town.
Great V’s of geese
Honk overhead.
And maples turn
A fiery red.
Frost bites the lawn.
The stars are slits
In the black cat’s eye
Before he spits.
At last, small witches,
Goblins, hags,
And pirates armed
With paper bags.
Their costumes hinged
On safety pins,
Go haunt a night
Of pumpkin grins.

Our sponsor this fortnight is Polkadoodles and I am using this cute gnome image Autumn Wheelbarrow.
My inspiration comes from the line The month is Amber, Gold and Brown.

This past weekend I did a spooky basket swap with some ladies from a Facebook group I am a member of and I wanted a fun tag. This was perfect!

Supplies, Tag
Image (Autumn Wheelbarrow Halloween gnome) printed on Hammermill Color Copy
Bakers Twine from American Crafts
Cardstock from The Paper Studio (back of tag)
Die from Spellbinders (Decagons)
Momento ink
Prisma Color Pencils
Sentiment unknown (gift)

Progressive Freebie Challenge: October 2022

My ghost? Do you suppose I'm fool enough to go to the expense of keeping one of my own, when there are so many charming ones in my friends' closets? ~Edith Wharton, "The Eyes," Tales of Men and Ghosts, 1910

Good morning!
A new Progressive Freebie Challenge has started at The Outlawz Challenges on our new blog home located HERE.

If you are not playing along and wish to join the rules are very simple:

You need to be a member of The Outlawz Challenge Facebook Fan Page and you will need to send us an email to outlawzprogressivechallenge@gmx.com. We’ll send you the image. All you have to do is enter a card/project made with the image supplied before the challenges closes on the last day of the month and you will automatically get the next image. If for any reason you don’t get your project made and you would like to rejoin us, contact us and we will let you know how to jump back in. And as long as you enter before the end of the month you will get the next one free and you will then get them automatically each month you enter a project.

This month’s adorable image comes from Oddball Art. This ghostie is soooo adorable! The set also came with a fun sentiment so I just rolled with it…

As you can see, the background has boos written all over it. And if you look closely has his dapper bow tie you can see I did a little paper piecing using a digi paper with little tiny ghosties as well! I did a little fussy cutting of the ghost and his bow tie using a bit of foam to pop the tie up.
So much fun!
