Nesting ...

I have noticed that when chickens quit quarrelling over their food, they often find that there is enough for all of them. I wonder if it might not be the same way with the human race.

To Sandra with Love ...

To think of death, to hold ideas or views or beliefs about it, is simply to hold views, ideas, or beliefs about life. The first great idea, perhaps, that we want to hold deeply is that death is not the end of life but simply an event in life. ~Lilian Whiting (1847–1942), "The Unseen World: The Incident of Death," The World Beautiful: Second Series, 1896

Hello All,
Today I am sharing a card I made with an image created by Sandra Caldwell, aka Babycakesdnd. Unfortunately, this image never made it to her shop as she passed away unexpectedly last week.

Heaven has gained another wonderful, kind and talented soul!

Needless to say, those of us who considered her a friend are feeling her absence both personally and creatively.

As part of her Design Team, we decided to go forward and post our cards & projects in memory of her. We will also be posting other cards & projects made with her images over the next couple of days and invite everyone who has and loves her images to please share on her Facebook Fan Page found HERE

Rest in Peace my Friend ...

Colors of the Sun(flower) ...

Colors of the summer sun illuminate the meadow. Gold, the massed gold of hawkweed; the burnished gold of black-eyed Susans; the delicate, demure gold of stargrass, cousin of the daffodil; and the sun's very rays captured by the field's wild sunflowers. ~Hal Borland, Seasons, 1973

Hi everyone!
Today I am sharing a card I created for our Color Challenge at The Outlawz Challenges using an image from our Sponsor, SheepSki Designs

This fortnight we are using a color wheel to find our color of choice.

For my card, I used yellow from the top half with Blue & Green from the lower half, finishing the selection

The design paper on this card is actually some paper from some note "scrolls" my daughter bought me years ago. Never use them until on day I saw one of them had the exact paper/colors I needed for a card I was making. This paper is from another scroll I took apart. It is actually quite stunning and rich looking IRL.

I fussy cut the sunflowers out the tucked the stems under the oval to give a nice 3-d look to the image.

Supplies used
  • Image, Sunflowers Image 112 printed on Hammermill Color Copy
  • Cardstock from The Paper Studio (Base) and Stampin Up!
  • Design paper from my stash and Stampin Up! (Marbleous)
  • Glimmer paper from Neenah
  • Ink from Stampin Up!
  • Nuvo clear crystal drops
  • Oval die from Precious Merieke (Winter Wonderland Oval)
  • ProMarkers
  • Sentiment from Close to My Heart (Wordfetti)
Thanks for stopping by and don’t forget to stop by The Outlawz Challenges for more challenges and Inspiration!

Faith in Falling Stars

To be glad of life, because it gives you the chance to love and to work and to play and to look up at the stars... and to spend as much time as you can, with body and with spirit, in God's out-of-doors — these are little guide-posts on the foot-path to peace. ~Henry Van Dyke, "The Foot-Path to Peace"

I am running late posting this card, but a new Sunday Song & Rhyme Challenge has started at The Outlawz Challenges and will run through April 2, 2022

Our Song/Rhyme this Fortnight was selected Margaret

Catch a falling Star

Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket
Never let it fade away
Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket
Save it for a rainy day

For love may come and tap you on the shoulder
Some starless night
Just in case you feel you wanna' hold her
You'll have a pocketful of starlight

Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket
Never let it fade away (never let it fade away)
Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket
Save it for a rainy day (save it for a rainy day)
(Save it for a rainy, rainy, rainy day)

For when your troubles starting multiplying
And they just might
It's easy to forget them without trying
With just a pocketful of starlight

The Outlawz Crash your Stash Challenge: Spray Inks

To find someone who will love you for no reason, and to shower that person with reasons, that is the ultimate happiness. ~Robert Brault, rbrault.blogspot.com

Good morning!
We have a new Crash your Stash Challenge starting at The Outlawz Challenges which will run through April 14th

Our sponsor this month is Oddball Art with a prize of 3 images from her shop
https://www.etsy.com/shop/OddballArtCo

The challenge cue for this month is to use ink sprays!

We all have them! Those luscious ink sprays for multi media project. Using with stencils etc. I have quite the stash and rarely use them anymore. In fact, I need to soak the sprayers as the ink has dried up inside making them unusable as a spray on ink!

I created a fun bubbly background for my sweet seahorse image using a couple different colors from Tattered Angels and Tsukineko along with a bit of liquid silk.

Supplies
  • Image (Cute seahorse with glasses) from Oddball Art printed on Hammermill Color Copy
  • Card Candy from Jot/Dollar Tree
  • Cardstock from The Paper Studio (base) and Stamping Up!
  • Design Paper from my Stash
  • Glimmer mist from Tatter Angels
  • Handmade paper from my stash
  • Ink from Momento
  • Liquid silk from Fun Stampers Journey
  • Nuvo clear drops
  • ProMarkers
  • Sentiment from (Seashore Sayings) JoyCraft
  • Stencil (Bubbly) from Taylored Expressions

Girls just wanna have fun ...

"Take your shoes off," purred the ocean waves. ~Dr. SunWolf, professorsunwolf.com

Today a new Sunday Song & Rhyme Challenge has started at The Outlawz Challenges and will run through March 20th

Our sponsor this challenge is Mirtillament

Our Song/Rhyme this month was selected Jen and a fun song it is!

Girls Just Want To Have Fun

I come home, in the mornin' light
My mother says "When you gonna live your life right?"
Oh momma dear, we're not the fortunate ones
And girls, they wanna have fun
Oh girls just wanna have fun...
The phone rings, in the middle of the night
My father yells "What you gonna do with your life?"
Oh daddy dear, you know you're still number one
But girls they wanna have fun
Oh girls just wanna have
That's all they really want
Some fun
When the workin' day is done
Oh girls, they wanna have fun .....

This was such a fun image to color! I created a mask of the images so that I could stamp over the top. The sun I punched a circle from copy paper and using the negative space and a brush colored in the sun.
