Spring in its fullness had returned. Its deep breath was blowing damp and warm, the flowers quivered within the seeds, and the round earth began to ripen like a fruit. ~Jean Giono (1895–1970), Regain, 1930, translated from the French by Henri Fluchè and Geoffrey Myers, Harvest, 1939
Today a new Sunday Song & Rhyme Challenge has started at The Outlawz Challenges and will run through April 17th
The current rhyme was selected by Barry and reminds us if what Spring has in store for us once she is settled on the land. Where I live, this means cactus blooms but it's nice to think about the Spring spoke of in poems is really like.
Spring's Vivid Carnival by Elizabeth Squires
Spring's vivid carnival shall soon prevail
She'll be frocked up in the brightest attire
her floral shades so striking of detail
Gardens being clad by stunning avail
flowers displaying such a colorful shire
spring's vivid carnival shall soon prevail
Every aspect of the rainbow there to sail
glorious blooms that we can admire
her floral shades so striking of detail
The wow factor e'er innate in her trail
a seasonal dressing of which we'll not tire
spring's vivid carnival shall soon prevail
Great visuals she'll pleasingly nail
on paintings in a sensational palettes fire
her floral shades so striking of detail
Seeing what the fashion will entail
we'll be gobsmacked with is garb's quire
spring's vivid carnival shall soon prevail
her floral shades so striking of detail.
