Valentine for my Mom

Without Valentine's Day, February would be... well, January. ~Jim Gaffigan

Hey everyone ...
As I noted earlier, we don't celebrate Valentines in my home but I do make them for the Mom's and a couple of elderly Aunts. So here I have the Valentine card I made for my Mother

I had her card all planned out but found myself moving in another direction. But that's okay .. I like how this one turned out.

After I die cut the main background I used the die as a stencil and sponged color onto the flowers and leaves. I cut the heart out of a brown cardstock because it made me think of a grapevine wreath. Once my flower was dry I glued to the heart.

Supplies
Card stock from Stampin Up! & Bazzill
Ink from Stampin Up!
Die: Scribbles & Splats from Sizzix
Die: Flower Bramble from ProvoCraft
Flower Punches from Martha Steward & Marvy

And So it Begins ...

Happy, happy Christmas, that can win us back to the delusions of our childish days; that can recall to the old man the pleasures of his youth; that can transport the sailor and the traveller, thousands of miles away, back to his own fire-side and his quiet home!
~Charles Dickens, The Pickwick Papers

Yep ... Starting on the Christmas cards already! I cut it pretty close last year much to the delight of my husband who laughingly tortured me with threats of buying store bought cards and mailing them out! Time to up my game LOL!

So here is my first card of 2016 ... This card is great for using up scraps!

Butterfly Hugs!

I don't understand why Cupid was chosen to represent Valentine's Day. When I think about romance, the last thing on my mind is a short, chubby toddler coming at me with a weapon. ~Author Unknown

While I appreciate the thought behind Valentines Day, I do not celebrate what I consider to be a "Hallmark Holiday" plus one should not be waiting for one day a year to show someone they are loved and appreciated. I don't buy a card for my husband and I certainly do not expect a card from him.

Now, that being said, because there are so many people out there who love and celebrate Valentines day, I do make them for the parents, aunts and a few friends and this card is one of them.

Thank you for your part in my Journey

Hem your blessings with thankfulness so they don't unravel.
--- Author Unknown ---

Good afternoon! I am sharing one of the thank you cards I recently made to keep on hand for my Design Team at Through the Craft Room Door.

They do so much during their 6 month term that it's seems negligent of me not say Thank You so I started mailing them out to DT that had completed their terms and moved on to other adventures.

When I saw this Sentiment Stamp from Unity Stamps - I - had - to - have - it!
It was perfect!

This card layout is based on one I found on Pinterest ... good o pinterest ... When I find the pin I will add it.

A Rose is a Rose

The rose of the old year withers away as the new bud begins to bloom. ~Terri Guillemets, "Withered," 2004

Well hello everyone ... Yup! It's me! Surprised?
I am ... LOL

I had some good intentions to keep this blog moving along pretty good but as the fates would have it, work has been ... um interesting ... trying to get back into the rhythm of everyone's idea of important and getting sick - still sick actually. Never fun.

Anyway ... I have been tinkering a bit in my craft room off and on and managed to get a couple cards done and of course, the battery on my camera was dead. Murphy's Law.

So here I am .... finally ... with a Birthday card I made for my Mom.

I just love this image from SandiSamples. One of my favorites that I have used several times.
This one I did in shades of yellow and gold. Not sure what made me do the background like I did, but I decided to play and then after it was all colored I scattered drops of alcohol onto the cardstock.

I used a die to trace around the image, then I cut it out by hand (gasp) ... only because the die is not designed with the placed right at the opening.

Supply items
Cardstock from The Paper Studio and Stampin Up!
"Damask" embossing folder from Darice
Corner punch from Fiskars
"Labels 25" & "Romantic Rectangle" dies from Spellbinders
Pearls from Michaels
Ribbon & Bow from my stash
