Autumn Tag

The bright summer had passed away, and gorgeous autumn was flinging its rainbow-tints of beauty on hill and dale. ~Cornelia L. Tuthill, "Virginia Dare: Or, the Colony of Roanoke," 1840

Good morning!
I am just a little bit late getting my project for the current Sunday Song & Rhyme Challenge posted! You can find the challenge HERE

Our poem this fortnight was picked by Lorie Hill

October
by John Updike from A Child's Calendar

The month is Amber,
Gold and Brown.
Blue ghosts of smoke
Float through the town.
Great V’s of geese
Honk overhead.
And maples turn
A fiery red.
Frost bites the lawn.
The stars are slits
In the black cat’s eye
Before he spits.
At last, small witches,
Goblins, hags,
And pirates armed
With paper bags.
Their costumes hinged
On safety pins,
Go haunt a night
Of pumpkin grins.

Our sponsor this fortnight is Polkadoodles and I am using this cute gnome image Autumn Wheelbarrow.
My inspiration comes from the line The month is Amber, Gold and Brown.

This past weekend I did a spooky basket swap with some ladies from a Facebook group I am a member of and I wanted a fun tag. This was perfect!

Supplies, Tag
Image (Autumn Wheelbarrow Halloween gnome) printed on Hammermill Color Copy
Bakers Twine from American Crafts
Cardstock from The Paper Studio (back of tag)
Die from Spellbinders (Decagons)
Momento ink
Prisma Color Pencils
Sentiment unknown (gift)

80th Birthday for the Mother in law

God gives you a life and says, Okay, what are you going to do with it? ~Alice Cooper, interview with Cal Fussman, 2008 August 2nd, for Esquire's January 2009 eighth annual Meaning of Life issue

Hi All,
Using a tutorial I found on Beccy’s place HERE, I made an exploding box card for my Mother-in-Laws 80th birthday celebration.

This is the first time I’ve attempted one of these and while not horribly complicated there is a lot of measuring and cutting to get the box base and flaps created.

I had all the kids, grandkids and significant others write out personal messages that I could put onto all the flaps. I had a couple left empty so I found a nice quote about turning 80 years old and the last one I added a picture of her when she got the news that my daughter (the eldest grandchild) had eloped. So much fun! And of course, she cried and cried and cried because she loved it!

Now, I can’t find the paper I wrote all the supplies I used so I have tried to remember what I could

Supplies
  • Cardstock from Stampin Up! and Bazzill
  • Conch on the big bow was a gift
  • Design Paper from Anna Griffen
  • Dies from fawn lawn
  • Pearl Clusters from my stash
  • Punches by Martha Steward
  • Roses from Prima
Thanks for stopping by!

It's Your Day ...

“What is life?
It is the flash of a firefly in the night.
It is the breath of a buffalo in the wintertime.
It is the little shadow which runs across the grass and loses itself in the sunset.”
~ Native American Proverb

Good morning Everyone!
Another blessed day for us, one and all. I hope you are enjoying it with whatever brings you peace and joy!

Today starts a new color challenge at The OutlawzChallenges. Our sponsor this month is Mary Smith of Createful Hearts Digis.

This week's challenge, selected by Jeanie, is to use all 4 colors from the palette and the optional twist of anything but a card.

I opted to make a gift bag using a lunch bag. The truck, which can be found in Mary's Etsy Shop, is colored with alcohol markers, fussy cut and attached to the bag with foam dots.

Halloween Treats

Hi There ... I know I should work on my staging because it will make my projects looks so much more polished but it just seems like it's all I can do to get things photographed and uploaded.

While cleaning out my overhead at work I found a couple of left over Halloween Treat baskets I made for my co-workers last year.

These are incredibly easy to make so I thought I would share how to make them.

Supplies: Card stock, scallop punch, bat w/ sentiment & pumpkin faces (Stampin Up!), Shimmery paper for the ghost (Unknown), Fraidy Cat punch (Martha Stewart), Candy Corn image (Inkahootz!), Ghost #2 and Pumpkins #2 dies (Sizzix), Ink (Stampin Up! & Memories), Circle Punch (Marvy).

I generally use a 6 x 6 sheet of card stock because this makes a decent size little treat basket.
Score at 2 inches and 4 inches ... turn ... score at 2 inches and 4 inches
Fold along the score lines for nice sharp creases. Use your bone folder if necessary.
Cut as shown by dotted...

Use a strong adhesive to hold the basket in shape... decorate as desired!

Enjoy!
