Summer Solstice Blessing
As the sun spirals its longest dance, I bless you.
As nature shows bounty and fertility, I bless you.
May you live with loving intent, to fulfill your truest destiny
Good Morning and Happy Litha!
Whether you call it Litha, Midsummer or the Summer Solstice, this the longest day of the year. Per the internet: Litha, also known as Midsummer, is the pagan holiday honoring the sun and fire. Pagan celebrations during this holiday have themes of strength, growth, success and wealth. Litha also celebrates the abundance of nature and honors sacred bodies of water and according to pagan folklore, evil spirits would appear on the summer solstice. To ward off the evil spirits, people would wear protective garlands of herbs and flowers. One of the most powerful of these plants was known as 'chase -devil'. Most of us probably know it as St. John's Wort.
Any Gravity Falls fans out there? I totally love that show, but my favorite is the Summerween one (S1E12). It is Gravity Falls' Summer version of Halloween and trick-or-treating. Instead of Jack-o-lanterns from pumpkins they create Jack-o-Melons using watermelons. Dipper insults a candy monster know as The Trickster, who threatens to eat him if his candy quota isn't filled by the time the light of the last Jack-o-Melon goes out.
It’s quite funny and enjoyable to watch … so in homage to both my love of Summerween and celebrating the Summer Solstice, I worked with Nic of Magnuson Stamps to create my very own Summerween stamp!
I have sent these cards out already to some friends and family, although I saved one to frame and put on my desk at work, but this is my new tradition!
