* * * NEWS FLASH * * *
I am so honored ...
Pryn Garritan, Team Leader for the Sunday Clean and Simple (CAS) Challenge on The OutlawzChallenge Blog asked me to be a guest designer for the Month of May!
Naturally I accepted ... Oh yes I did ... right after I squee'd all the way downstairs and tackled my poor husband with delight!
I am so excited and I can hardly wait to share what I make here for you to see ... but shhhhh ... that will be a secret for a while longer! I suggest if you are curious you go check the Outlawz out ... stay awhile & play a while!

Cards for Rae
So my daughter Rae has been living in Japan or the past year teaching English.
She recently asked me if I could make a batch of Thank you cards and Birthday cards.
This actually worked out well because at the time I was planning on a spending a Saturday at a close friends house crafting for the day with other like minded friends. Our challenge was to use nothing but scraps. Many of the cards are not designated as birthday or thank you - this was done so that she can chose for herself what she wants the card to be and write inside.
Anyway, these are the cards I came up for her and they will be sent along in her next care package from Mom.
This was was made using a piece of left over glittery Easter DP.
The Birthday stamp and some of the card stock is from Stampin Up! but the DP and the rest is from my paper stash.
This one I was playing with my new honeycomb die from PTI (Pssst... this works perfect with the honeycomb embossing folder from Stampin Up!)
Using some very ugly DP I made the flower in the corner with my Sizzix Flower Layers #2. Actually came out pretty cool - just goes to show you never underestimate ugly things.
The butterflies are cut from the another piece of DP and the swirl and leafs are from Spellbinders
Strictly made from random scrap strips I had in my pile. The banner stamp is a very old one from Stampin Up! I double stamped it, then cut out the top piece and popped up with pop foam.
he sentiment is from The Angel Company
The leafy green DP is actually a piece of vellum. The sentiment is from Heidi Swapp. I stamped onto a piece a scrap paper, cut out and attached with pop foam
A rather girly card with all those pinks and peaches ... oh well ... I like it anyway (despite all the pink!)
More scraps, glued to light weight paper and embossed with the Stampin Up! Square Lattice folder. The glitter window was cut using another scrap and a bookplate die from Spellbinders. I used a piece of transparency as the window pane, added glitter to the box I formed with pop foam and sealed. The sentiment is from Stampin Up! I added the flowers later because I thought it was too plain without them and the orange tones down the pink.
Frugal hint: The flowers were part of a small bouquet purchased from the local dollar store. I dismantle them and for the price of $1 I get a nice pile of flowers and leaves.
Another pinkie girly card but I had some left over scraps from the card above so I had to use them!
The strips were attached to a piece of light weight paper and embossed with the Stampin Up! Square Lattice folder.
The piece was then ran back through my big shot to cut the hole using Sizzix Fancy Labels Framelits. Another smaller one was stamped with sentiment from The Angel Company.
A piece of plaid DP (also used in the patchwork) was attached to the card base then the patchwork paper and the sentiment were both attached over the top with pop foam.
Something different ... this was the first scrap card I made that morning... eh ... it's okay I guess. Not enough coffee in my system I think. I tried to spruce it up a it by embossing the patchwork piece with a folder that belonged to someone else so I don't know the whosits or whatsits (This actually happens to me quite often!). stuck a matching green flower in the middle and in true ADHD form, went onto something else.
Cased from another card seen on Pintrest because I liked the layout. It works well with scraps, especially if you don't have lot but hate to throw them out!
The flower center is stamped and attached with pop foam.
I am no pro at bow making that's for sure - rarely use them. At least this one actually looks like a bow!
I love this one! So bright and happy. I just picked up random bright colored scraps and cut them to size. I finished off with fake stitching around the whole arrangement and added the sentiment from Stampin Up!
Good man card if I do say so myself! Imagine my delight when I found this lovely piece of mulberry paper. I was hard pressed not to keep this one for my own stash but ... sigh ... she needed a card or two she could give a guy, so she gets the card! The buttons and flower are from my stash.
Okay, I admit - this one was not part of the scrap mix although the strips are scraps from another Saturday scrapping jaunt at my friends place. I was never happy with how this one turned out so I made a few slight modifications and BAM! Loooove it. - yeah - shes gets this one too... Am I a great mom or what???
Well that's it for now. Will be entering several challenges shortly so will be posting those projects soon.
Thanks for stopping by and checking out my stuff!
